A Look Backward and Forward
Although I might have been able to suspect it beforehand, our choice to do vanlife was one of the best decisions Faith and I have ever made. God opened the door for us to travel the country and see more friends, family, and beautiful places than we can count. Some of it was certainly Type 2 fun, but the vast, vast majority was fun to plan, fun to do, and fun to look back on. We are so thankful for everyone who opened their doors and offered us shelter and showers(!!!); it would have been a starkly different and substantially less interesting trip otherwise. Many people that we’ve met have declared their jealousy for our lifestyle, and there’s little we can say other than “we understand”; vanlife has been great. We are blessed to have these memories, and I would strongly recommend doing vanlife for at least a little while to anyone with an iota of interest. Even if vanlife isn’t interesting to you, take the time that you have now to do the things you want to do: you don’t know what the future holds.
Faith and I aren’t completely done with vanlife, but we have it on pause for the next few months while we spend time with family over the holidays. We hope you have enjoyed keeping up with us throughout our adventures and will post more when the time comes to hit the road again.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
7 Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
